A ceremony to mark the 56th anniversary of the March events at the University of Warsaw will be held on 8 March 2024 at 12 noon on the UW main campus.
56 years ago – on 8 March 1968, at high noon – a protest rally was held in the main courtyard of the University of Warsaw by students and Warsaw residents fighting for, among others, the restoration of academic freedom and civil liberties, the easing of censorship and in defence of students expelled from the university for opposing the actions of the authorities of the time.
On Friday, 8 March, flowers will be laid at the plaque commemorating the events of March ’68, located at the main gate of University.
